Lima Tuberculosis Hospital
|
History
Opened on April 5, 1911, the Lima Tuberculosis Hospital was one of the first in the state dedicated to the treatment of patients diagnosed with Tuberculosis. The hospital treated patients from seven to ninety years old, at a time when tuberculosis was almost always fatal. The average stay was three to five years. In January, 1960, the hospital's name was changed to the Ottawa Valley Hospital. The hospital closed in 1970, though the building was used until 1973. The hospital is rumored to be haunted by diseased patients. Some say that the ghosts of the victims will follow you through the hospital. It is said that you can sometimes see a glimpse of them, but you can always hear and sense them from the direction you came. On the third floor, reports say that a pounding noise is heard. The noise is very loud and steady. Many people have witnessed quick moving shadows in the halls. Experiments, Tests, & Debunking Lead Investigator, John Albrecht Jr. believes that the "pounding noises" come from an oil refinery located near the hospital. Lima Oil Refinery Comments
I don't believe that this place is haunted. In my opinion, the pounding noises come from the Lima Refinery, which is located at 1150 South Metcalf Street. It's about three miles from the hospital. Also, you will be arrested for trespassing by the Shawnee Police and sent to the Allen County Jail if you are caught here. This place is a trap set up to earn the county money and you will pay a fine and/or do jail time. --John Albrecht, Founder OTH-028 Investigation #1 3/30/08 Investigation with John Albrecht, Sara Cope, Nick Lockard, Sarah Steward, Justin Stuper, & Shana Stamm OTH-030 Investigation #2 4/12/08 - 4/13/08 Investigation with John Albrecht, Sara Cope, Nick Lockard, & Jeff Albrecht |
